Most creators hear from agencies long before they go looking for one: a DM promising to triple your income, a slick deck, a call that ends with “we just need your login to get started”. Some of those messages come from good agencies. Many do not.
Bad agencies rarely look bad at first. The warning signs are in how they want to be paid, what access they ask for, and what they put in writing. This guide walks through the scams creators report most often, so you can spot them before they cost you anything.
Key takeaways
- Never hand over ownership of your account or its recovery email.
- Your OnlyFans earnings should be paid to you, not to the agency.
- No honest agency guarantees income or charges you to join.
- If something is not in writing, it is not agreed.
The scams creators report most
They take your account
They ask to “set things up” with their own email or phone, then change the password and recovery details. Once the account is in their name, you can lose access to your page and your income.
Payouts redirected
OnlyFans pays creators directly. An agency that asks for its bank details to be added, or for you to forward your payouts “to split them”, is in control of your money.
Pay to join
A “setup fee”, “onboarding package” or “training course” paid before any work is done. The agency is paid whether you grow or not, and often disappears.
Guaranteed earnings
“$10k in your first month, guaranteed.” Nobody can promise that, and those who do usually want something upfront.
Leaks and resale
Content gathered “for the team” ends up shared or sold elsewhere, or is kept and used after you leave.
Lock-ins and clawbacks
Long minimum terms, large exit fees, or a share of your earnings for months after you have left.
Ten red flags in the first conversation
- They ask for your password, a login code or your ID over DM or email.
- They want your account moved to their email or phone number.
- They promise a specific income or follower number.
- They ask for money before any work is done.
- They push you to sign today. A fair offer is still fair next week.
- The percentage is vague, or taken from gross with no explanation.
- There is no written contract, or they will not let you take it away to read.
- You cannot find a registered company behind the brand.
- Their proof is screenshots of earnings you cannot verify, and they will not put you in touch with a current creator.
- They brush off your boundaries as something that “holds you back”.
One red flag is a reason to ask harder questions. Two or more is a reason to walk away.
How to check an agency before you sign
- Find the companyAsk for the registered company name, number and country, then look it up in that country’s public company register. A real business can be found.
- Read the contractGet the full agreement in writing and take time to read it. Check the percentage, what it is taken from, the notice period and what happens to your content when you leave.
- Talk to a current creatorAsk to speak to someone they manage now. A good agency can arrange it with that creator’s consent.
- Keep control of accessYour email, phone number and two-factor authentication stay yours. Any shared access is limited, documented and removable.
- Start with a trialA defined trial, for example 30 days, with an agreed review at the end, before any longer commitment.

How Privé works
We built how we work around the things that go wrong elsewhere:
- No fee to apply or join.
- You stay the account holder. Access, recovery methods, 2FA and any credential changes are agreed and documented.
- Your earnings are paid to you by OnlyFans. We invoice our share afterwards, with a statement you can check.
- A written agreement with our share of net, agreed together and confirmed before you sign.
- A 30-day pilot, and when we stop working together we remove our access within 24 hours and give you a written handover.
- A registered company: SIA Prive MGMT, Latvia, registration number 40203783997.
If you want an agency you can check before you trust it, apply confidentially. Applying does not commit you to anything.
